About

I’m Ebony — an award-winning Independent PR and Communications Strategist, author, transition coach, and advocate for working on your terms.

With over 20 years of experience in PR and communications, I’ve advised founders, brands, and leaders across fintech, wellbeing, regulation, entertainment, and social impact. From heading up in-house teams to running my own consultancy, I’ve always been about clarity, cultural relevance, and cutting through the noise.

In 2025, I was recognised as one of the UK’s top 50 most impactful freelance PR professionals by the Independent Impact 50 — a celebration of strategy-led, independent voices shaping the future of communications.

I’m also the founder of Ebony Gayle Communications, an independent consultancy where I work light-touch but high-impact — helping brands build trust through smart strategy, and individuals break free from outdated work models through supportive coaching.

Beyond the boardroom, I’m a speaker, podcast host, and the author of How To Become A Consultant: A Guide To Free Yourself From The 9–5 — a no-fluff guide for anyone ready to follow their passion and work on their own terms.

You might have seen my work or commentary featured in publications like Female First, Real Business, New Business, Colourful Radio, London Beat Radio, and more.

I’m also a former board member of Women in PR UK, and I co-created the first CIPR Independent Practitioners Network, helping to establish a supportive space for freelance and solo PR professionals. Alongside my co-founder, I led events in London and Manchester to champion the independent community — the network is now being revived under new leadership.

As the creator and host of the 9to5 Work Rebels podcast, I spotlight stories of those rewriting the rules and challenging the norm.

Whether I’m helping a brand move beyond performative messaging, guiding someone through a career shift, or just reminding folks that soft power is still powerful — I’m here for truth, clarity, and doing things differently.
